Adapt your driving
Today: difficult winter conditions on the roads
Over the next few hours, a winter storm will bring heavy snowfall to most regions, including Vaudreuil-Dorion and surrounding municipalities. This precipitation will be accompanied by gusty winds, sleet and freezing rain in some areas. These conditions will affect travel on many of Quebec's strategic highways.
In this context, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable would like to remind road users to exercise extreme caution and adapt their driving to the sometimes changing road conditions on the same route.
Ideally, motorists should postpone non-essential travel until weather conditions improve.
Safety tips
Before taking to the road, it is suggested to the drivers :
- find out about road and visibility conditions on the various Québec 511 platforms;
- make sure your vehicle is well prepared for winter driving and is equipped with a first-aid kit;
- remove all snow from your vehicles, including windows, mirrors, roof, hood, headlights and license plate.
When traveling, users must :
- adapt their speed to weather conditions;
- keep a safe distance between vehicles;
- make sure they are visible to operators of machinery, including winter maintenance vehicles, and exercise patience in their presence.
