The Syndicat de l'UPA de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is delighted with the MRC's decision to abandon the purchase of the land planned for the regional composting platform project in Saint-Télesphore.

This announcement is enthusiastically welcomed, and puts an end to the concerns of Syndicat members, particularly in view of the fact that the coveted site is located on agricultural land.

"The Syndicat would like to thank the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges for taking the community's concerns into consideration. This decision demonstrates recognition of the importance of agricultural land in the region.

"However, the Syndicat remains vigilant and open to constructive dialogue in the future, while hoping that any future initiatives will respect the preservation of farmland and agricultural activities in the region," said Ms. Ange-Marie Delforge, President of the Syndicat de l'UPA de Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

On Wednesday, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC announced that it was abandoning the purchase of the land in question for its regional composting platform project.

Preliminary environmental opinions had concluded that the land planned for the platform did not meet certain requirements, being located on a highly vulnerable site.
