On Friday, December 1, Parc Le 405 will host the Lumin'Art exhibition for the fourth year running. Sixteen Vaudreuil-Dorion artists, along with students from 12 local school classes, have been inspired by the theme of Rêverie to create the works that will be presented to the public.

The Club photo Vaudreuil-Dorion has also joined the event, and will be presenting an original exhibition for the occasion. The official launch, attended by all the artists, will take place on December 7 at 7 p.m., and the Sainte-Madeleine school choir will perform for the occasion. Lumin'Art will be on display until February 4.

The following artists are taking part in the 2024 edition: Roxane Bilodeau, Lucie Bisson, Monica Brinkman, Diane Collet, Philippe Corriveau, Stéphan Daigle, Caroline Forget, Annouchka Gravel Galouchko, Raquel Maciel, Ginette Malouin, Tina Marais John McRae, Nathalie Plouffe, Deirdre Potash, Michel Sauvé and Véronic Sévigny. Classes from Brind'Amour, Hymne-au-Printemps, Papillon-Bleu (Pavillon Sainte-Trinité) and Cité-des-Jeunes schools will also be showcasing their work.

Visitors will be invited to take the tour to discover the new exhibition, but also to revisit works from the last three years, including the huge Christmas ornaments, lanterns and barrels. Adding to the immersive experience is an enchanted forest featuring small dream doors, enough to fill young and old with wonder. The Caravane Mozaïk will be offering a luminous collective creation activity on three occasions: Thursday, December 7, Saturday, December 16 and Friday, December 22, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

"Along with Le Courrier des lutins, Lumin'Art has become a must-attend event in the run-up to the holidays. Parc Le 405, with its immense trees, takes on a magical allure at dusk when everything lights up. I'd like to thank the artists and school groups who participate year after year, making it possible to offer citizens this grandiose art exhibition," says Chloé Marcil, head of the culture and community life division at the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Special holiday programming

In December, library users are invited to take part in two workshops, creating Christmas decorations (December 16) and jewelry (December 21 and 22), which they can then give to their loved ones as gifts. Then, on December 23, at 1 p.m., Les Philanthropes theater troupe will present an animated reading of a humorous Christmas tale from the Quebec repertoire. Those interested in this program can register online at ville.vaudreuil-dorion.qc.ca or by phone at 450 455-3371, option 6, starting December 1, 10 a.m.

At the Maison Félix-Leclerc, Francis Désilets will welcome the public on December 1 for an evening of storytelling entitled Le sac du Quêteux, at 7:30 p.m. Lucie Bisson will be on hand on December 2, 3, 9 and 10, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., to help people make Christmas ornaments. No registration is required for these activities.

Finally, children under 12 are invited to the Centre multisports André-Chagnon on Sunday, December 10, at 11 a.m., to attend the show Noël Ensemble, from the Coup de théâtre series. They'll be able to sing and dance to Christmas classics in the company of Meute Monde's recycled puppets.

Santa's famous elves will kick off the holiday program on November 25 and 26, and December 2 and 3, in their brand-new post office at Maison Valois. A variety of activities will be offered to families at the Maison Valois park.

This wide range of activities is entirely free of charge. Full details are available on the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion website.
