All November, at Hudson
A posthumous exhibition for artist and co-founder of Le Nichoir, Denise Paquette
Painter, pianist, teacher and, above all, passionate about birds, Denise Paquette will continue her work with Le Nichoir, the organization she co-founded in 1996, even after her death.
Ms. Paquette, who passed away last spring, was a painter and member of the Club Artistes Hudson Artists for over thirty years.
To honor her memory, an exhibition of some twenty of her works will be held throughout November in the lobby of the Stephan Shaar Community Center in Hudson. The pieces will be on sale, with all proceeds going to Le Nichoir in Hudson.
"Denise Paquette was passionate about birds. She had her own aviary at home. She even once had peacocks," Gisèle Lapalme, a painter and long-time friend of Mrs. Paquette, told Néomédia.
Denise Paquette remained very active until the age of 90. A member of a religious community until the age of 57, the artist had a career both inside and outside the convent as a classical music teacher.
"She exuded a contagious joie de vivre. She devoted many years to Le Nichoir. Like the birds, she sang non-stop and wholeheartedly," adds Ms. Lapalme.
Inspired by the Impressionist masters, surrounded by her birds and flowers, Ms. Paquette painted vibrant abstract works.
"Some of her works can be seen on the Talents d'ici website. One of her sculptures is also on display at the Centre Infotouristique in Rivière-Beaudette," says Gisèle Lapalme.
The exhibition dedicated to Ms. Paquette's work will be held throughout November at the Stephan Shaar Community Centre in Hudson. The official opening will take place on Friday, November 3, in a 5 à 7 format.
