More than 700 students from the Saint-Michel and Sainte-Madeleine schools, as well as the Cité-des-Jeunes arts and studies program and music concentration, launched the Journées de la culture by singing Le grand rendez-vous, an original composition by Fanny Bloom and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, conducted by maestro Rafael Payare, as part of Une chanson pour l'école 2023.

For the occasion, singers and musicians gathered in the Parc de la Maison Valois, close to the emblematic Je suis... monument.

Numerous parents, teachers and school staff were on hand to witness the show, in which students from kindergarten to Secondary 5 took part.

Journées de la Culture ambassadors Michel Vallée and Éléonore Lagacé were also on hand. It was a homecoming for Mr. Vallée, who is behind numerous cultural projects in Vaudreuil-Dorion, notably the Je suis... project.

He said he was very moved and especially happy to launch the 26th edition of the Journées de la culture in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

As for Éléonore Lagacé, she took the time to congratulate the young people for embarking on this adventure. "Thank you to each and every one of you. Your presence makes a big difference. It moves me so much to see you (the young people) lend yourselves to music at such a young age. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. "

The participation of Saint-Michel and Sainte-Madeleine schools in the Une chanson pour l'école project was the initiative of Sainte-Madeleine music teacher Andréanne Allard.

"In my life, I've had the chance to sing with a band, and I've felt the collective thrill of creating music, of living music. As a music teacher, that's what I want to bring to life," she emphasized, addressing the young students.

"What an immense privilege to be entrusted with the task of writing Une chanson à l'école! Sincerely, this is the project that has given me the greatest emotional experience of my life. Thank you for taking the time to learn the song and for carrying the French language in your hearts," says singer-songwriter Fanny Bloom.
