Opening on October 3 at Les Cèdres
Gauvreau, Kourie and Marleau exhibit at the Gaby-Farmer-Denis public library
The public is invited to the Gaby-Farmer-Denis library for a vernissage on October 5 from 5 to 8 pm. Three local artists will be exhibiting. Annick Gauvreau, Johanne Kourie and Natacha Marleau will be on hand with their creations. The À nos fenêtres exhibition opens on October 3 and closes on December 30.
How it all began
Annick Gauvreau explains: "I've known Johanne for a long time. Last year, on Route des Arts, I met Natacha. Johanne and I talked about preparing an exhibition, and Johanne suggested that Natacha join us.
"We talked about it together and naturally agreed that we would each work from our own sides, from "our windows," without any particular common theme, to tell our worlds."
Annick Gauvreau
Annick lives in Coteau-du-Lac. A self-proclaimed trans-disciplinary artist, she paints figurative, abstract and also works in 3D with salvaged objects.
She began painting again in 2003, after a 23-year hiatus. Her creative process is closely linked to writing. Since 2021, 48 of her works have been exhibited at the Musée de Charlevoix in La Malbaie. The Musée d'art de Rouyn-Noranda acquired 5 of his works this year.
Johanne Kourie
Johanne has her own studio in Les Cèdres. She works in oils and acrylics, both abstract and figurative.
Johanne divides her time between her studios in Les Cèdres and Rimouski. She takes hundreds of photographs that serve as inspiration. Some of her works are also exhibited at the Musée de Charlevoix. Her work has been shown in New York, Europe and Asia.
Natacha Marleau
Natacha Natacha lives in Coteau-du-Lac and devotes her time to photography.
Natacha is interested in legacy and territory. Winner of Trace 2021-2022, she exhibited her coastal landscapes with Terre promise at Maison Trestler. She also exhibited in 2021-2022 at the Bibliothèque Gaby-Farmer-Denis. She describes her work as follows: "I try to honor landscapes in my lens. These bring us back to the essential, where silence settles, our forgotten humanity."
Each of the artists is scheduled to exhibit around six works for their new artistic adventure at the Bibliothèque Gaby-Farmer-Denis in October. This is a great opportunity to appreciate their recent artistic evolution.
