Setting up BLAST
Supporting Dek Hockey and its athletes one sip at a time
Entrepreneurs from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region join forces to get young and old moving. Last August, the Association de Hockey Balle du Suroît (AHBDS) and the Association de Hockey Balle du Suroît Junior launched BLAST, a logo, an image and a sense of pride.
The entity aims to bring together players from these two associations through Dek field hockey tournaments in different cities across the province.
How can we encourage the formation of BLAST?
By choosing the Duke and Devines restaurant in Vaudreuil-Dorion for lunch or dinner. For every beer you drink from Brasserie du Bois Blanc's Premier Pick brand, the restaurant's owners will donate $1 to the organization to help fund various activities.
In addition to Brasserie du Bois Blanc and Duke and Devines, several other local entrepreneurs have decided to lend a hand through sponsorship programs:
- Ali Excavation - Marc-André Loiselle;
- Europena Ingredients - Tessa DeJong;
- ICE - Stéphane Dagenais;
- GES AutoPro - Éric Gaulin;
- Multi-Prêt - Mathieu Lebrun;
- Scotia Bank;
- VNation - Jonathan Martel.
The funds raised will be used to set up development clinics for AHBDS and AHBDS Junior players. They will also be used to reduce tournament registration fees, provide team jerseys and much more.
Another important initiative in support of BLAST is the Duke and Devines in Vaudreuil-Dorion. At all times, the venue welcomes all NBHPA member players, offering them an instant 10% discount on food and drink (conditions apply-see on-site).
For more information, you can follow BLAST activities and fundraisers on their Facebook page ''Blast de l'AHBDS''. In November, a family activity is coming up, and a comedy show is also on the BLAST calendar for February 2024.
