On Sunday, August 20, in front of many admiring young hockey players, the MNA for Vaudreuil, Marie-Claude Nichols, presented the medal of the Quebec National Assembly to professional field hockey player William Carrier.

The left-winger of the Las Vegas Golden Knight, a resident of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, was visiting the Parc historique de la Pointe-du-Moulin, in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, as part of the provincial tour of the prestigious Stanley Cup.

Last June, William Carrier won the coveted trophy, becoming an inspiration to the region.

The 28-year-old athlete, father of two young children, was generous enough to take the time to meet the young enthusiasts who came to see him, one by one, with a personalized autograph session, individual photos and the opportunity to touch the Stanley Cup.

For the MNA for Vaudreuil, such a sporting achievement deserved to be recognized and rewarded. "William has inspired our region through his sporting career. I am delighted to have presented him today with the National Assembly medal in recognition of an exemplary action by a citizen. His relentless efforts and perseverance encourage citizens to surpass themselves and believe in their dreams. William is an ambassador for our region, and it is an honour to express our pride in him, on behalf of all of us," declared Ms. Nichols.

The medal of the Quebec National Assembly can be awarded by a member of the National Assembly to recognize the merit of an organization or individual in his or her riding who has carried out exemplary work in the cultural, sports, social or entrepreneurial fields.
