Three new appointments at Cégep Gérald-Godin at the start of the new school year
On the eve of the start of the 2023-2024 school year, Cégep Gérald-Godin has appointed three new recruits to its ranks.
Firstly, Cégep Gérald-Godin General Manager Julie Pelletier has confirmed the appointment of Mihaela Dragan to the position of Assistant General Manager. The selection committee and executive committee unanimously recognized the quality of her candidacy, which took effect on August 7.
Ms. Dragan has eight years' experience as Executive Assistant, and until recently worked as Administrative Technician - Customer Service at CIUSSS Centre-Ouest. She holds a bachelor's degree in law, and has taken additional training in project management, public relations and communications. Ms. Dragan is also trained in early childhood education, and was a daycare educator for four years.
Ms. Pelletier is delighted with Ms. Dragan's appointment: "Ms. Dragan has skills and a personality that I'm sure will be of great benefit to Cégep Gérald-Godin. Her great interpersonal skills will be invaluable assets, as will her rigor, her sense of analysis, her dedication and her dynamism."
"On behalf of the entire management team, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Ms. Dragan to our Cégep, and look forward to accompanying her in her new role," concluded Ms. Pelletier.
Two new Assistant Academic Directors
During the same period, management also hired Lyne Desjardins as Assistant Director of Studies, responsible for the Teaching Activities Department.
Ms. Desjardins holds a Bachelor's degree in Special Education and a Diploma of Advanced Specialized Studies (DESS) in School Administration. She has worked in education for over thirty years. She then accumulated a wealth of experience at various levels of education, from primary school to university, first as a teacher and then as an administrator. After holding management positions in various school service centers, she recently joined the Cégep du Vieux Montréal as coordinator of school supervision and continuing education.
Her vast management experience in education, her understanding of the challenges of the college environment, her vision of teaching and her desire to contribute and help others make her a prime candidate for this position.
Simon Fortin, Director of Studies, is delighted to have her on his team, and gives her his full confidence and support. Like Mr. Fortin, General Manager Julie Pelletier recognizes Ms. Desjardins' great expertise and strong interpersonal skills. They wish her every success in her new role.

In the same department, management announces the appointment of Elsa Laflamme to the position of Assistant Director of Studies, responsible for the Pedagogical Development Service.Ms. Laflamme holds a doctorate in French Literature from the Université de Montréal, and is currently training in Public Administration at ENAP. She has worked for Cégep Gérald-Godin since 2001.She has been able to put her expertise to good use as a teacher, head of the Centre d'aide en français and departmental coordinator.

The Cégep can count on a dynamic person who knows the community well, and who has been committed to college success since the very beginning. Her academic background in research, her teaching and coordination experience, and her involvement in a number of institutional issues will be invaluable assets to the Direction des études.
