Dog lovers in several Vaudreuil-Soulanges municipalities now have the opportunity to find other dog lovers looking to get together thanks to an app dedicated to providing real-time information regarding dog parks, trails and services.

DogPack App provides a detailed real-time map of every dog park, dog friendly area and pet service in the region. Users can check into app and see who's there before they arrive.

"I'm a dog walker. What happened during COVID was that everyone was texting to ask where they could meet me to run with my dog because I know the best spots. I'd get up to six texts a day," said Dov Punski, one of five co-founders of DogPack App and a citizen from Pincourt.

"It there's a dog that really gets along with another dog, they'll check into the app and you'll be notified by phone. If there's a dog your pet doesn't get along with, you can check in, see if they're there and stay away," Punski told Néomédia.

"People really love it. Even if you don't use the check-in feature it's a really good app for locating new spots. Every dog owner needs to exercise their dog and it's a really cool tool to find new spots," said Punski.

"We also put dog trails, dog friendly beaches and even open fields that only the locals know about. It's a really unique map you won't find anywhere else which comes from suggestions by all the locals," Punski added.

Social media platform for dogs

DogPack also has its own social media platform for dogs. "You can post pictures. There's a big feed with pictures. People can comment and like posts and add dogs to their pack which is a friends list. You can create a pack, grow your friends list, manage it and share photos," said Punski.

As the app grows in popularity there are more users subscribing to it each day. Users are also rewarded with treats for using the app.

"The treats can be redeemed for actual prizes like coupon codes, discount codes and raffle tickets. We've given away about $25,000 of free stuff to our users and that's also growing at a rapid pace," said Punski.

DogPack also implemented a new feature where dog friendly businesses can advertise and place their locations on the map for a fee.

"It's popular. We've gotten about 50 businesses on the map when we launched it in the first month and hope to ramp that up," said Punski.

In the meantime, the main focus of DogPack app is to keep building its user base.

In addition to Canada and the United States, DogPack app is also popular in Australia New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Poland, Dubai, and Italy.
