From June 23 to 25 in Vaudreuil-Dorion
Festival de cirque: Over 30 hours of programming plus a host of free activities
The countdown to the 17th edition of Le Festival de cirque Vaudreuil-Dorion (FCVD) has begun. The transformation of the rue Jeannotte began on Monday, with the various teams working to get the site ready to welcome festival visitors this Friday.
The 2023 edition of the FCVD will feature fifteen activity zones and entertainment areas. Visitors will have access to a host of free activities including a water-filled pool with pedal boats, a basketball court with professional demos, circus performances, digital art, a Ninja circuit and inflatable games, just to name a few!
Young thrill seekers will be delighted with the amusement park and its wide range of skill-testing games. Eleven restaurateurs will also be on site to satisfy hungry guests in quest of a tasty bite to eat.
"City Council is beyond happy to offer the population an event of this size with so many free activities. Le Festival de cirque is somewhat synonymous with the start of the school holidays, which makes the event even more festive. I am calling on all citizens to come in large numbers! " said Mayor Guy Pilon.
On June 23rd, festival-goers will be treated to the music of the popular group Les Trois Accords on the main stage, where the show will open with a performance by Le Band de la Cité. On June 24th, festivities for La Fête Nationale will be punctuated by the music of Vibe & Taxis and folk music group Le vent du Nord.
Finally, on June 25th, the legendary Robert Charlebois, preceded by DJ Kingdom, will close the 17th edition of the FCVD. These shows are free to all except those who wish to have access to box seating available in the onsite containers. A few tickets are still available for June 24th at a cost of $40 each.
"We worked hard to create a program that is diverse and caters to all age groups. Moreover, we redesigned the entertainment area in front of the main stage to accommodate a larger number of spectators. I sincerely believe that citizens will enjoy their experience. We look forward to welcoming revellers starting on June 23rd at 4 p.m.," added Vincent Bastien, Director of Recreation and Culture.
La Fête Nationale
On June 23rd, 24th and 25th, the FCVD website will bear the colours of La Fête Nationale. Quebec’s National Holiday will be especially highlighted on June 24th with the 8 p.m. performance by the duo Vibes & Taxis, featuring Rachel Hart and Martin Desrosby, who were both part of the famous 2 Pierrots family for many years and whose 100% francophone repertoire will undoubtedly get the crowd moving and singing.
This show will be followed by the ever-popular fireworks display at 10 p.m. and a performance by Vent du Nord at around 10:30 p.m., which promises to take the crowd on a memorable journey into the world of traditional Quebecois music.
Just like last year, avenue Saint-Charles will be closed to traffic between rue Jeannotte and chemin Paul-Gérin-Lajoie from the night of June 23rd until June 26th, at 6 a.m.
Parking spaces are available at the Cité-des-Jeunes campus and in surrounding streets. Since traffic is always very heavy following the fireworks, citizens are advised to wait a while before trying to leave or park in the northern part of the City.
