The mayors of the four municipalities on Ile Perrot have joined forces to launch a road safety campaign in each municipality.

The event brought together the mayors of L'Île-Perrot, Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Pincourt and Terrasse-Vaudreuil to encourage all motorists to adopt safe driving habits.

This year's edition entitled "I'm Doing It Again for You" features brightly coloured posters with pictures of children and adults to remind motorists pay attention to their driving habits.

"We had a really great campaign last year. There were no accidents with serious injuries," said François Plaisance, Head of Pincourt Public Security.

"The posters remind people to watch their speed and the safety campaign by the Sûreté du Québec to monitor school zones helps reinforce the message," Plaisance said.

"It's great all the municipalities are participating in this campaign. This way we can make sure everyone on the island is getting the same message about being attentive and responsible when they are driving," he added.

The four mayors on Île Perrot also support the road safety initiative.

"We're delighted with this year's campaign. Road safety affects everyone and it's great every town on the island is taking part this year," said Pincourt Mayor Claude Comeau.

"Road safety is everyone's business. Our children and neighbours deserve safe roads. We're doing this for them," said Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot Mayor Danie Deschênes.

"It shouldn't be dangerous for pedestrians and the thousands of children who cross our roads every day to get to school and do their activities. I hope this campaign will encourage motorists to slow down," said L'Île-Perrot Mayor Pierre Séguin.

"This is a great initiative to deal with road safety issues in our community and on the island," said Terrasse-Vaudreuil Mayor Michel Bourdeau.
