Ten Vaudreuil-Dorion artists joined forces in recent weeks to improve the visual appearance of containers and electrical boxes in public spaces.

The final brush strokes were completed over the weekend and the public is invited to view and enjoy the creations resulting from the Pluralité project.

This collective spring project began in 2020 during the COVID pandemic. This year's project involved working with existing elements to make them more attractive.

Ten local artists responded to the challenge and each one left their mark on a container or an electrical box. Each artist decided which theme they would explore. Pluralité consists of a variety of artworks that blend together despite their differences.

"Everyone approached the project in their own way and brought their own style. Visitors with a keen eye will be able to identify the artist behind the work," said Chloé Marcil, Head of the city's Culture and Community Life Division.

"Each project may go through several phases," said Karine Marin, Head of the city's arts and culture division.

"This is the first time this artistic collective has worked with existing elements within our territory. Electrical boxes are part of the landscape and they never get any attention," said Marin.

"Now that they're covered with flamboyant art works, they're beautifying our public spaces. We believe this project, where art and sustainable development meet, could easily be renewed next year," added Marin."

The artworks can be seen at the following locations:

  • Municipal Arena: Roxane Bilodeau and Monica Brinkman –Border nos cœurs de lumière
  • Parc de Bel-Air: Stéphan Daigle – La puissance de l’imagination and Annouchka Gravel Galouchko – Le cadeau
  • Parc Dorion-Gardens: Michel Sauvé – La cabane des joueurs and Lucie Bisson – Code-barres
  • Parc de la Maison-Valois: Nathalie Plouffe – La fête
  • Parc du 150e: Raquel Maciel – Espace intergalactique
  • Parc-école des Quatre-Saisons: Deirdre Potash – Les 4 saisons
  • Parc Mozart: Véronic Sévigny – L’écho des cui-cui
