This Tuesday, Mont Rigaud announced a major investment for the resort: the upcoming installation of a second chairlift. A facility that will result in more comfort, but not an expansion of the ski area.

"I think that users prefer to be on the slopes skiing rather than waiting at the bottom of the resort ”. Luc Élie, the president-owner of Mont-Rigaud is very clear about his goal. Above all, he wants to improve the customer experience within the resort.

"With a fairly comparable domain, Ski Saint-Bruno offers eight lifts, where we had only one. That's how much room there is for this type of equipment at Mont-Rigaud. When it is in operation, this equipment will only work on busy days such as weekends. It's a comfort, but it's also a security, because, in the event of a breakdown of one or the other of the lifts, it will allow us to have a back-up and continue to offer a quality service."

No new runs in sight

Those who were hoping that this announcement hid the announcement of an expansion of the ski area may be disappointed, but Mont-Rigaud has no plans to open any new ski trails.

"There is simply no room to create new trails. Moreover, if we wanted to create one, we would have to cut down trees, which is totally forbidden on Mont-Rigaud," explains Mr. Élie.

So, if not more skiing, it will soon be possible to ski better on Mont-Rigaud. All that remains is to hope that the snow will be there.
