Thanks to last October's Gala Coaching Financier Trek, a fundraising evening organized by the financial services firm for Quebec student athletes, 14 recipients received $62,000 in scholarships and services. Among them were two residents of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

The two local recipients are:

Jonathan Hinse, 18, from Vaudreuil-Dorion. This track and road cyclist received a $2,000 bursary. This is his first bursary from Coaching Financier Trek and the Fondation Aléo.

The athlete scored a prestigious stage win at the Tour de l'Abitibi in July 2023, as well as 2nd place in January in the junior points race at the Apeldoorn international competition in the Netherlands.

The young man is currently studying at Cégep de Granby and would like to pursue a sports-related career.

The second recipient is 17-year-old Béatrice Normand, a triathlon athlete from Coteau-du-Lac. She received $4,000 in financial assistance, her second from Coaching Financier Trek and her 3rd from the Fondation Aléo.

She would like to work in events management and is a Secondary 5 student at Collège Bourget in Rigaud. On the sporting front, she is recognized as a bronze medallist at the Junior Triathlon Championships of the Americas in Miami in March, completing an all-Canadian podium.

An evening in the company of 20 leading sports personalities

The event, hosted by Michel Lacroix, legendary voice of the Montreal Canadiens, was a great success, bringing together over 200 people, including 20 prominent sports personalities who had the opportunity to share the meal and the evening with guests.

“Thanks to the generosity of the donors who participated in our gala, we are pleased to contribute to the pursuit of dreams and to financially support the 14 2024 recipients in their exceptional journeys. Every year, it's a very important moment for me, and it's a great source of pride to be part of their team from now on, and that of the Fondation Aléo for the past three years,” says Marc Bérubé, President of Coaching Financier Trek.

Marc Bérubé, president and founder of Coaching Financier Trek, was delighted to meet and talk with the 14 student athletes his company is supporting this year, as he saw first-hand the repercussions of his charitable commitment during the award ceremony.

“We have a lot in common with Coaching Financier Trek, starting with personalized support. Just as they do with their customers, we make a point of supporting our fellows according to their unique needs, wishes and goals. So, with a similar vision, our partnership is complementary and fruitful. We're delighted with the commitment of the entire Coaching Financier Trek team,” adds Martin Lavigne, President of Fondation Aléo.
